We're instantly drizzled with the juice of a thousand lychees as the sweet and thick nectarous music spans ever onward from the invisible silence. A band of nearly fifty years ago, the music is recognisable as dated but that doesn't take from the quality. An excellently made album with a mix suitable for today's standard, for its time this was a huge undertaking of work.
The band name “Stringtronics” suggests, that there's some kind of stringed instrument involved, and there is, or should I say, are? Track one reveals their heaviness of influence to the sound as it crescendos on a wave of orchestral violins. Before the time and days of the quantum physical string theory, M theory as it is mostly known now, the music of Stringtronics adapts a psychedelic and mysterious feel that is quite suited to the odd and strange charm of those quirky quarks, the ups and downs of the spin lead us to constants like planks, floating down a stream of waving light water.
A full use of musician and style is adapted, the album really works our brain. Not like the modern album of the popular music culture, in which singers are asked to perform simple ditties over melodic repetitions, this doesn't seem to have any need for that formulated genericness in the slightest. OK, so if you were to go down into the actual structure and detail, you'll discover that it's well made music which follows the theory well, however its the rest which is unique. Nothing quite like it, are the words I'm tempted to cliché my way around with.
Spacey and funky, the groove of the 70's shines like golden lamps of clarity, and the pre-pop era clings on with the leading role, making it a refreshing listen. This French product is reported to have been a collaboration of a few tracks from various projects, who cares? This album as its own work, sounds brilliant.
