Previously featured on Alternative Fruit a few months ago, Freya Alley returns with her fourth studio single. Another Man was co-written by Freya and Laurence Hobbs from Charthouse Music. With her Lithuanian heritage, Freya takes us on musical journeys through electronic sounds and continental inspired compositions that give her unique voice a truly magical platform. This time, Freya takes a look at the world of love, relationships, and their eventual demise. Exploring the feelings of compromise, understanding, future building, and then severance, the roller-coaster ride that human relationships entail is penned and emoted for us all to think about. Naturally, pleasure and pain are both key players in the drama of love, and perhaps only in this phase of companionship do we have such deep power over an individual's happiness.
The song begins with a delicate and deeply moving piano introduction and strings. Freya starts to sing with clear and melancholy lines. Telling the story of humanity, decision making, and changing ones own mind, the music climbs in intensity and emotive quality. The truth is the most important thing, living a lie goes against the grain of everything that makes us real. Keeping it real can be hard, and Freya expertly describes how it feels to be on the side of the woman. Having been left for another man myself, more than once, I know this story from the other side. It's interesting to hear the opposing view without the shouting and the accusations of not trying hard enough. I'd rather hear this song any day of the week.
